Butlers Chocolate Cafes launch “Butlers Cup for SVP”, to fight poverty
Tuesday May 14th: ‘Butlers Cup for SVP’ will see all Butlers Cafes donate all the sales from their hot drinks sold in any of its 15 Butlers Chocolates Cafés nationwide to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. The fundraising initiative hopes to raise €20,000 of much needed funds for the charity to fight poverty through food, fuel and education. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is the largest, voluntary, charitable organisation in Ireland, seeking to tackle poverty in all its forms through the provision of practical assistance to those in need. The ‘Butlers Cup for SVP’ initiative aims to help the Society to help even more people in need on 14th May.
Chairman of Butlers Chocolates, Mairead Sorensen, said, “We have great respect for the place St. Vincent de Paul has in Irish society and are delighted to help them in their work at this time”. Commenting on the collaboration, Geoff Meagher, SVP National President said “Initiatives such as Butlers Cup for SVP are very welcome and hugely important in helping us provide assistance for all those who seek our help and support", with an ever increasing number of people calling SVP for help, we rely heavily on both public donations and fund-raising activities in order to help the many people who are now struggling to maintain a basic standard of living. That is why we thank Butlers for nominating SVP as the beneficiaries of this day and urge the public to support this event." Butlers Cup for St Vincent De Paul will take place for one day only on Tuesday 14th May in all 15 Butlers Chocolate Cafés in Dublin, Cork and Galway throughout opening hours.
