Powerscourt Town Centre - Christmas Festival
This Christmas season, the Powerscourt Town Centre has been transformed into a Winter Wonderland, bedecked with twinkling lights and winter garlands. Throughout December, the historic shopping destination will be playing host to a variety of festive events, with something available to suit everybody in the family.
The Christmas season kicks off on December 2 nd with the launch of the Dublin City Gift Card at Powerscourt Shopping Centre, with all welcome. Dublin is the only Capital City in Europe to have its own gift card. The stylishly designed card offers card holders ultimate flexibility and convenience, making it the perfect Christmas gift. Available in values from €10 to €150 (in increments of €5), the gift cards can be purchased at a dedicated kiosk in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre from December 2 nd.
Until the 6 th January the Christmas Exhibition will be held at the Powerscourt Gallery, featuring an eclectic mix of artists and affordable artwork. December 3 rd sees the launch of renowned photographer Giles Norman’s new collection, inspired by the landscape of Wicklow. In addition, from 12-2pm every Thursday of December, the resident Powerscourt pianist will be tinkling the ivories.
Once all the gift have been opening and the turkey disappears, the Powerscourt Town Centre will be on hand to take away those post-Christmas blues with the Lazy Days of Christmas Family Afternoons taking place from 1pm on Sunday 27 th and Monday 28 th December, featuring clowns and story-telling.

About Haven
Haven was established in late 2008 by Leslie Buckley, one of Ireland’s leading entrepreneurs and
businessmen. Our vision is to tackle poverty and improve the quality of life of impoverished people in Haiti. We aim to do this primarily by building new homes for the poor, improving other homes and
introducing development programmes to help our beneficiaries work their way out of poverty.
A long time supporter of many charitable causes, Leslie is a founder of Digicel, the largest mobile phone telecommunications company in the Carribean. It was his work which brought him to Haiti for the first time, the poorest country in the Western World.
Conditions in Haiti are dire for the vast majority of its population of 8.5 million. Seven out of ten Haitians are living below the poverty line of $2 a day. One child dies every hour from starvation, with almost a quarter of children under five suffering from malnutrition. Unemployment stands at 54% and half of the population cannot read or write. And hundreds of thousands of people are condemned to live in shacks and slums.
But, there is hope in Haiti. Despite all its problems. It is this hope that inspired Leslie Buckley to act and he founded Haven. To kickstart fundraising for this new international non-governmental organisation, Leslie has pledged EUR 1 million. This money will cover all administration costs so every single penny donated to Haven from others will go directly to our building and community programmes in Haiti.
Haven’s vision for Haiti is one where every one of its citizens has a proper place to call home, where children have somewhere safe to sleep at night and families feel secure.
